Malkangiri, June 3: In a heavy exchange of fire between the police and the ultras early today, a maoist commander was killed in Kapatuti forest near the Odisha-Andhra border.
The operation was launched last night after getting a tip about the presence of the ultras in the area. Two teams of security personnel led by the Malkangiri SP exchanged fire with the ultras early today in which Chinnabai, the maoist commander of AOBSZC’s Kalimela Dalam was shot dead.
The police has also seized a number of items from the spot including guns, bullets, tiffin bomb, first aids pack and others.
Search operation in the area is still on, while more forces have also been deployed.
