Bhubaneswar, Jan 25: A Maoist couple was killed in an encounter with security force personnel on Angul-Deogarh border on Sunday afternoon.
According to DGP KB Singh, the encounter ensued in the afternoon during a combing operation in the area in which secretary of Kalinganagar Division Sunil and his wife Soni were killed.
Sunil was carrying a reward of Rs 20 lakh on his head while Sony was the second in command and carried a reward of Rs five lakh on her head. Sunil was involved in several cases, he said.
He said this was a “Very successful operation’. Two firearms and Maoist literature were seized from the spot adding combing operation has been intensified in the area.
