Maoists attack in Chhattisgarh: Malkangiri on high alert

Bhubaneswar, Apr 25: In an in-human attack by the naxalites at Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, at least 25 CRPF jawans lost their life, while 8 others are being reported to be wounded, said sources.

The attack that happened to occur at around 1pm yesterday, at Kalapathar area of south Bastar region, is quite near to the Chintagufa-Burkapal-Bheji axis, which is said to be the heart of naxal violence and has seen a number of such attacks in the past. As of sources, at first the maoists send villagers to check the personnel’s position, and soon around 300 masked maoists in black cover attacked the CRPF patrol with highly sophisticated guns like the AK series. Around 10-12 naxalites also got killed during the cross fire, added sources.

 

In the regard, the Malkangiri police today, has declared a red alert in the district, while the border check points and areas are being strictly patrolled and combing operations are also launched. In the meanwhile, the malkangiri police personnels along with the combing parties have also been instructed to coordinate with their counterparts in Andhra, Telangana and Chhattisgarh.
