Rayagada, Mar 31: Yesterday night all trains at the Daikallu Railway Station here were stopped as the Maoists had triggered an explosion in the station. Many trains have been stalled near the Muniguda Railway Station here. Based on the statement of the Station Master of Daikallu Station, around 15-20 Maoists arrived at the station around 1:30 am and at first captured the office and pulled out the Station Master of his office, following which, the ultras created an explosion in the office and snatched away the Station Master’s walkie-talkie. Also, the Maoists blasted a goods train’s engine after halting it. Later, the Maoists released the Station Master, but did not return the walkie-talkie to him as a result of which train services were affected. Maoists’ posters were sighted at the station protesting the appointment of non-Odia senior police officers along with non-Odia Jawans in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Border Security Force (BSF). Appointment of non-Odia administrative officers were protested as the non-Odia officers are exploiting and suppressing the people of Odisha. In the meantime, Odisha DGP KB Singh stated to media that this jas happened in Odisha for the very first time and it needs to be taken into serious consideration. Superintendent of Police, Special Operations Group (SOG) and CRPF have reached at the spot. A joint combing operation to nab the Maoists have been initiated.
