Paikasahi, Oct 9: On Friday evening, around two dozen Maoists force conducted a youth meeting at the Bhurukundi village under Purunakot police station limits in the Satkosia wildlife sanctuary in Angul district exhorting youths to join them by offering them a salary of Rs 10,000 per month. It’s stated that there were 25 armed reds who headed from dense forests.
The meeting was held at 6pm on the village road for a duration of around 20 minutes. Fearing the Maoists, around 40 young men and women participated in the meet. Earlier, Maoists had held a meeting in the village on Tuesday. These Red Rebels have threatened to break fire on the villages if the villagers didn’t join their organization. The Reds left for the dense forests after the meeting. The red rebels as they have lost their stand among the masses over the last one year are making attempts to rise their popularity in the state.
Thousands of villagers from six panchayats in Malkangiri district had participated in a Maoist-organised meet at Jantri village in the cut-off region of the district on October 1 evening where the Reds had asked people to boycott the panchayat elections coming early next year.
