Bhubaneswar: June 19: Appreciating the efforts of Superintendents of Police (SP) and Deputy Inspector Generals (DIG) of Naxalite affected areas of the state Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, ‘Maoist violence has come down significantly in the state’. While addressing the collectors’ conference, Patnaik emphasized on bringing the Maoists cadres and sympathisers to mainstream. Chief Minister instructed the SPs to take proactive action to check crime against women and weaker sections of the society. On the other side, he directed district police to take tough action against tender and transport mafia without any fear and favour. Naveen also informed that three new commissionerates would be opened in Rourkela, Sambalpur and Berhampur to check organised crimes. Issues related to coastal security, cyber-crimes and chit fund companies were also discussed.
