Sambalpur, Nov 20: With a target of 150 million tonne coal production in 2015-16, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) is set to become the largest coal producer in India during the financial year 2015-16 said Chairman-cum-Managing Director AK Jha.

At a ceremonial meeting organized Wednesday evening in the honour of his predecessor AN Sahay, who relinquished office on October 31, 2015, Jha said that achieving the target of 150 million tonne coal production in 2015-16 will be a fitting tribute to the services rendered by Sahay for the overall growth of MCL.

Asserting that MCL is poised to become the largest coal producer in the company by the end of this financial year, the CMD added that the company is right on its way to achieve the 250 million tonne target set for 2020.

The outgoing MD Sahay said MCL is a growing energy giant with a bright future.

With several ‘firsts’ to its kitty, MCL has become an icon in the coal industry and I would love to see this great company growing and achieving new milestones, Sahay said.
