Srinagar, Oct 17 (IANS) A militant was apprehended after a grenade attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pattan town on Wednesday left three policemen and a civilian injured.

Upon receiving a tip-off about the movement of militants in the area, a checkpost was set up in Pattan town of Baramulla district, police said.

When they signalled a vehicle to stop, militants hurled a grenade at the police party.

A Deputy Superintendent of Police, a constable, a special police officer and a civilian were injured in the grenade explosion.

The police chased the militants and nabbed one of them, who was identified as Faizan Majeed Bhat.

“He had joined militancy recently. His accomplice, Showkat Ahmad, managed to escape”, the police said.
