Mission Rabies campaign in city

Bhubaneswar, Jan 4: “Mission Rabies” -a campaign to control rabies, a dreadful viral disease in human and dogs is back in Bhubaneswar.

Secretary Fisheries and ARD Bishnupad Sethi held discussion with officials of DoFARD here on Sunday in this regard.

He directed the officials to extend all support for the Mission.

UK-based Worldwide Veterinary Services (WVS) has taken the initiative in collaboration with Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Department DoFARD) Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, and People For Animals (PFA).

A WVS team consisting of two veterinary experts has arrived in the Capital City to conduct training programs for veterinarians

Mass Anti Rabies vaccination program will be conducted in the City with highly equipped and customized Mercedes Zetros 6×6 vehicle.

The vehicle has inbuilt operation theatre, training lounge and sophisticated animal health emergency facilities.

Notably, during September 2013, DoFARD in collaboration with BMC, WVS and PFA launched Mission Rabies, a mega anti rabies vaccination program, which vaccinated 5900 stray dogs in Bhubaneswar.
