The All-India Senior Selection Committee named Mohd. Siraj as a replacement for injured Jasprit Bumrah for the remainder of the T20I series against South Africa.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee named Mohd. Siraj as a replacement for injured Jasprit Bumrah for the remainder of the T20I series against South Africa,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in the statement on Friday.
Siraj, a 28-year-old right-arm pacer, has so far appeared in five T20Is and taken five wickets. His most recent T20I was against Sri Lanka in Dharamsala in February of this year.
India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against South Africa after a convincing eight-wicket victory in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. The second and third matches will be held in Guwahati (October 2) and Indore (October 4).
