Monsoon is likely to cover the entire state of Odisha within 36 hours

Bhubaneswar: June 25: The Regional Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar today predicted heavy rains in most parts of Odisha in next 24 hours. The southwest monsoon has become active again and is likely to cover the entire State within 36 hours, IMD informed.

MeT informed, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha besides Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Angul districts of Odisha. Moderate rain/thunder-shower is likely to occur at most of the places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, north interior Odisha and south coastal Odisha, predicted Regional Meteorological Centre here today.

Meanwhile, rainfall in twin city and neighbouring coastal odisha has brought much needed respite from the scorching heat. While Paradip recorded the highest rainfall of 60 mm, Puri has received 26 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours.

The sky in Bhubaneswar and neighbourhood may remain cloudy with one or two spells of rain or thunder-shower with maximum and minimum temperature around 32 degree Celsius and 26 degree Celsius respectively today.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon has advanced into some parts of Odisha, most parts of West Bengal and some parts of Bihar and Jharkhand. The conditions appeared to be favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into remaining parts of Odisha.
