Motilal Gouda case; ENT doctor interrogated by CB

Bhubaneswar, Aug 10: Crime Branch officials on Tuesday interrogated an ENT doctor named Dr. Santosh Panda of the Capital Hospital, suspecting his connection with arrested Dr. Motilal Gouda involved in the fake gazette notification scam.

As per the information, Panda had issued a fake disability certificate to Srabani Kar, Gouda’s close associate Himanshu Kar’s wife, in 2008 when he was working as a member of the District Medical Board.

Himanshu had managed to obtain a C-grade license in the name of his wife, with the help of the certificate that the Board had issued on the basis of Srabani’s hearing loss of about 40 percent.

Other than Panda, the Board consisted of three other members ( the Chief Medical Officer, Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Administrator of the Capital Hospital )  the certificate had been issued based upon audiology report, Panda informed the media persons.

When asked about the originality of the report, Panda told crime branch to send the report to the SCB Medical College’s Appellate Board where the Board would conduct a new checkup of Srabani to check her hearing loss.

Notably, as per the Crime Branch information, Himanshu Kar started taking up construction work in the year 2009 in the name of BN Constructions, a construction company registered in the name of his wife Srabani Kar, and also with the contract license issued with his wife’s name. He had been given tenders’ worth over Rs 10 crore till 2015. The Income Tax Returns deposited by Srabani, revealed that Himanshu Kar had a business turnover of Rs 3.5 crore in 2014-15.

Despite of having Class-C contractor license, the State Investigating wing is now probing as to how Srabani was given tenders worth crores of rupees.
