Bhubaneswar, Aug 5: Income Tax Returns filed by Himanshu Kar’s wife have revealed that Himanshu Kar, a close link of the suspended Motilal Gouda involved in the fake gazette notification scam, had a business turnover of Rs 3.5 crore through contract jobs in 2014-15.
As per the information obtained during the Crime Branch investigation, Himanshu Kar started taking up construction work in the year 2009 in the name of BN Constructions, a construction company registered in the name of his wife Srabani Kar, and also with the contract license issued with his wife’s name. He had been receiving tenders’ worth Rs 10 crore till 2015.
Despite of having Class-C contractor license, the State Investigating wing is now probing as to how Srabani was given tenders worth crores of rupees.
The Crime Branch and the Vigilance officials have sought detailed records relating to the tenders given to Srabani and Himanshu’s brother from the Public Health Department (PHD), and may call them as well as some PHD officials for interrogation.
By producing a false disabled certificate in his wife’s name, Kar had managed to obtain differently abled contractor license for his wife fraudulently from the concerned Board during his tenure as a clerk in the Capital Hospital from 2000 to 2010. He worked as a contractor of PHD under the full knowledge of the concerned minister. Notably, the officials who had issued the false disabled certificate to Srabani may also be called for interrogation by the Crime Branch.
