Umerkote: In a shocking incident, a one month old child has been branded about 40 times with a hot iron rod in Nabarangpur district of Odisha. While the incident is an instance of blind belief, the kid is now admitted to Umerkote Sub-Divisional hospital and struggling for life.
As per reports, a monthly child was found branded about 40 times with hot iron rod. The burn marks can be clearly visible in his body. The child has been branded in such a way that there is no portion left on his body where it was not branded. He is now lying on the hospital bed in pain. It has been said that due to blind belief on superstition, such an inhuman process are done in which people believe that the child will recover from disease.
The victim has been identified as the 1-month-old son of Saroj Kumar Nayak of Fundelpada village under Gambhariguda panchayat in Chandahandi block of the district.
Following the incident, as the child became critical, his family admitted him to Umerkote Sub-Divisional Hospital. The District Chief Medical Officer has said that the health condition of the victim child is improving. Efforts are underway to ensure that he recovers quickly and returns home.
