Kendrapara, Sept 3: Today the former Kendrapara Collector and the SP will be produced before the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Central division regarding the Namatara village firing in the district. Both, the former SP Satish Gajbhiye and the then Collector, will record their statements before the RDC Akhila Bihari Ota, at the Circuit House here.
Notably, the RDC is investigating the police excesses on anti-liquor campaigners, particularly women, at Namatara village under Rajkanika block in the district in March last year after the State Government gave orders on March 12. Earlier, the RDC visited the village and interacted with the victims, those nine persons, including women and children who sustained serious injuries as the police allegedly broke out a major firing on the campaigners.
Tension prevailed in the state because of this mishap. 17 victims are undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital under the direction of the RDC.
