Bhubaneswar, Sept 28: Replying to a written question on Tuesday, Forest and Environment Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh told the state assembly that soon a number of new species including the rare yellow anaconda will be brought to the Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) in a major animal exchange programme.
Two male and two female white peacocks and two yellow anacondas will be brought from Chennai, as a part of the exchange programme. Besides, a male tiger will be gifted by the Hyderabad Nehru Zoological Park.
In his report, the minister mentioned that a red tiger will be arriving at the NZP soon.
He further added that two male and two female reticulated pythons from Chennai will be shifted by the NZP while exchanging two female and one male hippopotamuses including a male Siamese crocodile to Arignar Anna Zoological Park.
Also, in the exchange programme, two male and one female bears will be sent by the NZP to Nawaz Wazir Ali Shah Zoological Park in Lucknow.
