Naveen demands Special Category, priority in Rail Budget for State

Bhubaneswar, Feb 8: “Paradip is going to become industrial capital of eastern India. Biju Babu was the father of industrial development in the State, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the inaugural ceremony of IOCL Refinery at Paradip on Sunday. He thanked the people of Odisha who had sacrificed their land for the refinery. He said that the day is an important day to all present as the Refinery whose foundation was laid on May, 2000 by the than Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpayee was dedicated to the nation.

He stated, “State Government is providing 3300 acre of land, 25 million gallon water daily and Rs 1 lakh crore of tax rebates in various sectors to the refinery and expected the refinery to keep its commitment by providing employment opportunities to the youths of Odisha.”

Addressing the Prime Minister the Chief Minister demanded the Special category status and extension of Ranchi-Vijaywada National Highway among many other things for the State. He said that inspite of being prone to natural calamities every year Odisha has risen to a great level and have focused on Adivasi and Dalit education, Model Schools and irrigation projects. Bhubaneswar has evolved as a Smart City in Odisha and the state has further helped in National Development.

Further thanking the Union Government for its contribution towards Odisha in last year Railway Budget the Chief Minister hoped the trend will continue during the preparation of future budget.

Patnaik further said, “Paradip is going to become industrial capital of eastern India.” He gave emphasis on the 7 lakh pucca houses provided to the poor in Odisha and within a target of 3 years all the poor people are going to get pucca houses. He concluded by thanking the Prime Minister for his Odisha visit and dedicating the refinery to the nation.
