Bhubaneswar, Apr 29: The Odisha Cine Critics Association (OCCA) on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the first Odia film ‘Sita Bibaha’, has compiled a screenplay booklet of the movie. The screenplay booklet was launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the state secretariat yesterday.
Veteran director of Odisha, Sabyasachi Mohapatra, giving a proposal said, “the film’s director, Mohan Sundar Dev Goswami’s grandson said a remake of the same movie can again be made with the same screenplay if anyone takes interest. And we should propose the state government to take a step ahead in this.” Speaking in this regard, OFDC Chairman, Munna Khan and actor turned MLA, Akash Das Naik has said that “we will first consult the state art and culture department regarding this matter”.
Notably, Sita Bibaha was released on 28th April, 1936 by a Kolkata based Kali Film Studio. At the time, the film was completed at a budget of Rs 29,781. The film directed and produced by Mohan Sundar Dev Goswami was released at Puri at Laxmi Cinema Hall. The story of the film was written by Kamapala Mishra, while the dialogues were scripted down by Adwait Mohanty.
