Berhampur, Mar 4: A ‘new admission day’ will be observed for Class I  students across Ganjam district in Odisha on April 2 to spread awareness on enrolment of children to schools.

While ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA)’ has been conducting similar enrollment drive for last few years, state government has plans to conduct an awareness drive involving villagers to ensure zero dropout of children from schools.

The students will be provided textbooks after taking admission in Class I. The district has received textbooks already. The students will be encouraged to attend schools when they get textbooks and study materials on the first day of the school, added a senior official.

The new enrollment drive will be launched after the declaration of the annual examination results of Class I to VIII on March 31. Around 4.16 lakh students in the district will write the annual examination of Class I to VIII, to be held between March 10 and 18 in all government and government-aided schools.

The results will be declared through continued and comprehensive evaluation system (CCES) by holding meetings between teachers and parents/students. The parents will be provided the answer sheets of their children and advised on the scope of improvement.
