New CRPF IG visits Balangir, Odisha to discuss future action to curb Maoists activities

Balangir, Jan 10: Today the Inspector General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Kamal Kant said that the ongoing construction of the proposed 189 Battalion here has a strategic advantage to effectively counter Maoist threat. Kant, after taking charge as the new CRPF IG, made his first visit here. He stated to the media on his visit that he has come here to see the ongoing construction of the proposed Battalion. He said that his motif to come here was to discuss their future course of action against the left wing extremism here. He further stated that the Odisha government is reviewing the Maoist activities in here and is in constant touch.

Upon the visit, he had a meeting with the District Superintendent of Police to discuss the Maoist activities. Elaborate security arrangements were made by the District police to ensure a safe visit of Kant.
