NIC meets to discuss commemoration of birth centenary of Personalities:

S. Subbalakshmi and 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Abhedananda, in New Delhi on May 19, 2016. The Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Shri Narendra Kumar Sinha is also seen.

New Delhi: May 21: A Meeting of the National Implementation Committee (NIC) held on Friday under the Chairmanship of  Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister to consider proposals regarding Commemoration of birth centenary of Shri Biju Patnaik, Shri Bismillah Khan, Shri Amrit Lal Nagar, Smt. M.S. Subbulakshmi and 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Abhedananda. Dr Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (I/C) and Civil Aviation and Ex-officio Member of NIC was present. The meeting was attended by Shri N.K. Sinha, Secretary, M/o Culture, Vice Chancellor BHU, Representatives of many organizations of the Ministry and NGOs and senior officers of Ministries of Culture, Finance, Information & Broadcasting. 

The meeting was held to discuss modalities for these commemorations which are going to be celebrated during the current financial year. A number of proposals which have been received by the Ministry of Culture from various sectors were considered during the meeting and decisions were taken thereon.

Need for creation of infrastructure at the birth place of each personality was emphasized in the meeting in order to create a permanent remembrance of the personality.
