Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has denied receiving any information about a scheduled meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Ministers of four states – Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh – to discuss the Polavaram project.

Reports had emerged in the national media suggesting that the Prime Minister would hold a video conference with the Chief Ministers of the four states on May 28 to address the issue. However, Majhi clarified that he has not received any such message.

The Polavaram project, considered the lifeline of Andhra Pradesh, has been a point of contention among the neighboring states. Telangana, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh have raised objections due to concerns over submergence of land and villages. Despite high-level discussions, a solution is yet to come.

Odisha and Chhattisgarh have specifically raised concerns regarding land acquisition and rehabilitation. The matter is currently pending in the Supreme Court, with petitions filed by Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana. The Central Government had declared Polavaram a national project.
