Rourkela, July 16: On a demand for strict action against the culprits and an unbiased probe into the offensive WhatsApp post that blew off to group clashes in the Steel City on Thursday, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad is thus observing a 12-hour Bandh in the city. Police personnel have been appointed positions at various sensitive places, around 30 patrols of police force have been deployed in the city, and the strength of CRPF contingent on surveillance duty has also increased.
As the BJP pledged its support to the bandh, the Sundergarh ADM, held discussions with the members of the VHP and BJP yesterday evening requesting to withdraw the strike and maintain peace. Meanwhile, the State secretary of the BJP has called for peaceful observance of the Bandh.
Earlier, a peace committee meeting to maintain peace and restore normal life in the city was organized between the concerned groups by the collector. All the members agreed to maintain peace in the committee meeting.
