Bhubaneswar, Nov 16: Well-known Pattachitra artist, Ananta Maharana is said to be no more. This president award winner passed away at the age of 88. He breathed his last yesterday morning at his native village located at Dandasahi under Raghurajpur in Puri. Thus, with this gloom and despair occupied in the entire village.
Notably, the Shilpi Guru had begun working at an early age of 8. He has received numerous awards such as Kandarpa Ratha conferred by Orissa Lalit Kala Academy. The pattachitras are paintings carved on cotton, silk and palm leaves which depicts mythological and folk themes. Krishna leela and Lord Jagannath are important motifs.
