Bhubaneswar, Mar 29: The State government has planned to enhance the number of Revenue Division Commissions from present three to seven.
However, no timeline has been set for this proposal, said Revenue and Disaster Minister Bijyashree Routray in the State Assembly in reply to a question by Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati and supplementary questions by Chandra Sekhar Majhi (Congress), Dr Nrusingha Sahoo (BJD) and Ayub Khan (BJD).
While Bahinipati demanded formation of more RDCs, particularly one in undivided Koraput district in view much distance of Malkangri, Nuapada, Malkangiri, Umerkore from the Southern RDC office at Brahmapur, other too wanted to know when the Government was going to form other proposed RDCs.
In his reply, the Minister said, “The proposal for formation a total of seven RDCs is under active consideration of the State government. The Government will take a decision at the earliest. However, he said he cannot give timeline as to when the RDCs would be formed.
As per the proposal, the seven RCS will be set up at Cuttack, Puri, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Koraput, Brahmapur and Baripada. While existing Cuttack RDC will have six districts under it, Rourkela will have three, existing Sambalpur seven, Koraput four, Brahmapur three and Baripada will have three districts.
