Bhubaneswar: September 29: Rita Sahu will be the BJD Candidate for the Bijepur Assembly seat. Biju Janata Dal President and Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik announced the name of Rita Sahu on Saturday here at Bhubaneswar and said, ‘ I am indebted to the people of Bijepur for their affection and regard that they have shown to me and I intend to keep Bijepur constituency as focus area for welfare and development’.
Rita Sahu, wife of late Congress MLA Subal Sahu won from the Bijepur Assembly seat in February last year on BJD ticket following death of her husband in August 2017.
Congress has already announced the name of Dillip Panda as its candidate for Bijepur by poll.
But, BJP is yet to announce its candidate.
The Election Commission of India has fixed September 30 as the last date for filing of nomination for the by poll.
