Bhubaneswar, Nov 26: Odisha Cabinet today approved 23 proposals in a meeting held here at the State Secretariat.The Cabinet was chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, which approved a proposal from irrigation department for setting up of three mega projects, which are aimed to be completed within 30 months.
As a measure decision, proposal on enactment of anti-defection law for panchayat and ULB representatives was approved by the Cabinet. To prevent defection in the Zilla Parishad, the cabinet approved a proposal in the amendment of the Zilla Parishad Act with the provision of anti-defection law.
Another decision taken is that on allotment of land without any charges for setting up of the second campus of NIRTAR (National Institute of rehabilitation Training and Research) in Bolangir district. And it also approved allotment of 3.55 acre for establishment of STPI in Rourkela.
Besides, the meeting gave its nod on issuance of identity cards to all servitors of Sri Jagannath temple in Puri also received the go-ahead from the State Cabinet. The meeting decided to impose restrictions during the Paramanik Darshan at the temple.
Prominent among other proposals, the Cabinet cleared a proposal regarding changes in the District Planning Committee. As per the proposal, a woman will hold the committee’s chairman or deputy chairman post. Similarly, a minister or MLA will be the chairman of the committee.
The district planning panel will have 80% elected members of which 50% will be reserved for women, the proposal added.
