Odisha Chief Minister lays foundation stone of Odiya University

Bhubaneswar: October 09:  Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid foundation stone for the Odia University today at Bakula Bana in Sakhigopal in Puri district. The University will promote and propagate Odiya Language across the country besides providing PG courses in Odia language and literature as well as facilitate research on different aspects of the language.

CM first offered floral tribute to the Panchasakha and planted saplings at Bakula Bana. Water and soil were brought from 30 districts of the State for the plantation programme.

The first model open school of the State ‘Bakula Bana Vidyalaya’ was set up by Panchasakha (Gopabandhu Das, Krupasindhu Mishra, Harihar Das, Pandit Mishra and Nilakantha Das) at Sakhigopal in 1909.

Panchayati Raj Minister Pradeep Maharathy, Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty and MP Pinaki Mishra were present at the event.
