Bhubaneswar: October 30: The revenue and disaster management minister, Sudam Marandi, has been instructed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to visit the train tragedy site of Andhra Pradesh and meet the injured individuals in the hospitals. The minister is accompanied by the Additional Special Relief Commissioner as well.
Odisha CM directed the Odisha SRC and the collectors of the districts of Raygada and Koraput to provide emergency assistance in rescue and relief operations.
Notably, a collision between two trains resulted in 14 fatalities and over 50 injuries. This has occurred in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh near Kantakapali junction in the Kothavalasa’mandal’ block, which is 150 kilometres from Odisha.
Odisha Chief Minister expressed his grief and said,
Deeply saddened to learn about the tragic loss of lives in the train accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families who lost their dear ones in the train accident and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
