Odisha CM lays foundation stone for ‘Odisha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre’ in presence of Ratan Tata

Bhubaneswar: February 17: Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik today laid foundation stone for the Odisha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre at Ratagarh in Baranga in the presence of Ratan Tata, Chairman of Tata Trusts. While addressing the gathering,   Odisha CM said, ‘The State government is committed for Cancer treatment and has already started Chemo Programme at district level hospitals and all the centres are connected to Acharya Harihar Cancer Centre’.

Odisha Government had signed an MoU with Tata Trusts, Mumbai to set up a state-of-the-art Cancer Treatment and Research Hospital in Bhubaneswar. The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Chairman of Tata Trusts Ratan Tata.

Tata’s Cancer Care Centre at Bhubaneswar will be bench-marked to the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.

For this Odisha Government shall facilitate land of around 15 Acres in free of cost.

The State Government’s Advisory Committee on this will be headed by the Chief Secretary. As per the MoU, the Advisory Committee will recommend a Special Programme Management Entity for executing the proposed network of cancer care facilities.

The Project Management Entity will have members both from the State Government and the Tata Trusts.

Among others, Health Minister Pratap Jena, MP Bhartruhari Mahtab and Banki MLA Pravat Tripathy were present on the occasion.
