Odisha CM speaks on the importance of Science for Nation’s Growth

Bhubaneswar: December 27: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the 26th National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) at Siksha ‘0’ Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University. Welcoming the children, Chief Minister stressed that scientific progress is important for a nation’s growth.

Speaking on the occasion, Naveen Patnaik said, Our Society has the responsibility to encourage the youths to do innovative research in every field using better technology and skill, which can help to improve the quality of our lives.

“The theme of this year’s Congress “Science, Technology and Innovation for a Clean, Green and Healthy Nation” has been aptly chosen as environment and health have emerged as two major concerns of our times,” said the Odisha Chief Minister.

CM said, ‘Government of Odisha has been focussing a lot in the field of Science & Technology. To develop scientific temper among our children, government has been organising different science-related programmes at various levels through different organisations. We are establishing Science Parks and Planetariums at district level to create interest among children on Science and Technology’.

Chief Minister spoke to children from Indian, Gulf and ASEAN countries and said, ‘He Bhubaneswar is the knowledge hub of Eastern India. It has world class educational and research institutions like IIT, AIIMS, NISER, Institute of Physics and Institute of Life Science. The city has a glorious heritage. I am sure you will enjoy your stay here.”

He Congratulated the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) for organizing this prestigious annual event for last 25 years besides thanking Siksha ‘0’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University for hosting the 26th edition of the event.

Children in the age group of 10-17 years’ including school students and those who are not part of formal education besides differently-abled children will attend the event.
