Bhubaneswar: June 03: Crime Branch Wing of Odisha Police today arrested two West African Nationals from Delhi and brought to Bhubaneswar this evening. The accused were identified as Zouzou Alex (34) from Ivory Coast and Erikume (46) from Nigeria.
As alleged, the two West African Nationals cheated people to the tune of several lakhs on the pretext of investing in lottery schemes and also looted several persons by creating a fake matrimonial website.
CB sources said, one of these two had cheated Rs.10 lakhs from a lady from Bhubaneswar on the pretext of marrying her. The lady had lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police Station, Cuttack in February.
It is alleged, the accused had created a fake profile in the matrimonial site in the name of Dr.Bhupinder Singh, a US based doctor. The lady started believing the foreigner and sent around 10 lakh of rupees. Further, she came to know that she has been cheated.
A team of Crime Branch Cyber Cell headed by Anila Anand, Inspector, Crime Branch- cyber cell had been to Delhi and after carrying simultaneous raids, they nabbed them.
The accused were produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, West Delhi Courts and were taken on remand for five days.
