Odisha DGP assures to seal off Odisha-Chhattisgarh border to prevent Maoists infiltration

Bhubaneswar, May 3: Yesterday the Director General of Police (DGP) K.B. Singh assured to media that the security forces are on high alert at the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border to prevent the forcibly coming of Maoist cadres in the state. A high class anti-Maoist Special Operation Group (SOG), District Voluntary Force (DVF) and jawans of the CRPF and the BSF have been stationed at the Odisha police to keep a close watch on the movement of people in the adjoining areas. As per sources, the Maoists have reportedly entered Malkangiri as the Chhattisgarh government made the combing operation more intense due to the massacre of Apr 24 in which 25 CRPF personnel got killed in a Maoist trap in Burkapal forest at Sukma.

Singh has assured that as a part of the precautionary measures, the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border has been sealed to prevent the coming of Maoist cadres inside Odisha. Also, deployed security forces have recovered eight tiffin bombs during the combing operations in the Kuruba forest region in Malkangiri. An IAF helicopter, Pawan Hans has also been deployed at the Ud3JaN camp to gear up the anti-Maoists operation.
