Odisha emerge champion in U-19 Women’s Inter State East Zone One-Day League

BHUBANESWAR, SEPT 26: Odisha on Saturday beat Tripura by 149 runs to emerge champion in the BCCI U-19 Women’s Inter State East Zone One Day league held at Dhanbad, and entered the knockout rounds.
Riding on the back of a century partnership between openers Sasmita Mahalik and Anjali Singh, and all round performance of skipper Sushree Dibyadarshini, Odisha eves scored 222 runs for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
Sasmita (35) and Anjali (60) contributed 104 runs for the opening partnership and put a strong platform for the team.
Skipper Dibyadarshinee once again put up an all-round performance by scoring 58 runs off 70 balls and claiming three Tripura wickets conceding just 5 runs, thus guiding the team to a convincing victory over Tripura who was bundled out for a paltry 73 runs in 34.2 overs.
Dibyadarshinee was well supported by D Janaki Reddy and Sangeeta Khadia who bagged two wickets each while Banalata Mallick and Sarojini Giri chipped in with one wicket each.
For Tripura, opener JR Debnath scored 23 and Suravi Roy contributed 17 runs while no other batswomen could reach double figure.
Brief score: Odisha 222/6 in 50 overs (Sasmita Mahalik 35, Anjali Singh 60, Sushree Dibyadarshini 58; Suravi Roy 2/33) beat Tripura 73/10 in 34.2 overs (JR Debnath 23; Sushree Dibyadarshini 3/5, D Janaki Reddy 2/11, Sangeeta Khadia 2/13) by 149 runs.
