Odisha is exploring the possibilities of ‘sister-state relationship’ with Brazil

Chief Secretary shares the ideas of ‘sister-state relationship’ with Indian Ambassador to Brazil.

Bhubaneswar: June 27: Odisha is exploring the possibilities of ‘sister-state relationship’ with Brazil. This was discussed in a high level meeting between Chief Secretary Sri Aditya Prasad Padhi and Indian Ambassador to Brazil Sri Ashok Kumar Das held in secretariat conference hall today. The Ambassador Sri Das made a presentation about potential and opportunities in Brazil. The possible areas of collaboration were deliberated between Secretary level officers and the Ambassador.

Deliberations in the meeting revealed that there could be a lot of cultural, economic, technological and intellectual inter-exchanges between Odisha and Brazil. The possible areas of collaboration can be yoga, Ayurveda, Buddhist circuit connect, handloom, eco-tourism, medical-tourism, agri-business, gems & jewelries and heritage-tourism etc. There is a rapidly growing demand for Indian generic medicines in Brazil. Odishan products like Tie & Die handloom, handicrafts, silver filigree, ginger, turmeric, popper, computer software, aluminum processed products, fertilizers, shrimps, crabs etc have good export potential to Brazil. Odisha also can invite Brazilian investors in the sectors like infrastructure, chemicals and agri-business.

Both Odisha and Brazil can participate in each other’s international trade fairs and investment meets. Both can benefit in mutual promotion of Startups, ethnic cultural exchanges and sports.  Ambassador Sri Das applauded Odisha’s trial of making Bhubaneswar a sports capital.

Sri Sanjeeb Chopra, Principal Secretary Industry has been nominated as the nodal officer from Government of Odisha side to carry forward the dialogue for future collaborations between Odisha and Brazil. Ambassador Sri Das assured all sorts of help from Embassy side for giving a concrete shape to all possible areas of cooperation and mutual exchanges.

Principal Secretary Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Sri Saurav Garg, Principal Secretary Industry Sri Sanjeeb Chopra, Secretary Health & Family Welfare Sri Pramod Kumar Meherda, Secretary Sports and Youth Services Sri Vishal Dev, Director Tourism Sri Nitin Bhanudas Jawale participated in the deliberations.
