Bhubaneswar: October 09: Depression formed over the west central Bay of Bengal may shape up as Severe Cyclonic Storm causing severe rain and cyclone. Officials of Government of Odisha reviewed the preparedness of Government machinery under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi today at State Secretariat. As decided in the meeting, Government ordered the closure of all schools, Colleges and Anganwadi Centres in four districts (Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur) of the state as a precautionary measure against the Cyclone Titli. Government of Odisha has ordered, total suspension of fishing operations. Coastal hutment dwellers are advised to move to safer places.

Chief Secretary further asked departments, to make generators and power backups ready to manage water supply & provide health related facilities and also to make the required machineries and equipment ready to clear the roads & streets immediately after the cyclone.

Also, Chief Secretary asked the officials to keep sufficient pump sets to face the flood-like situation usually arises in the cities due to heavy raining.

He the district administrations have also been asked to get ready with cyclone and flood shelters and evacuate people from low-lying areas as a precautionary measure to minimize loss of life and property.

As informed in the meeting, Cyclone Titli will hit the ground in between Gopalpur and Kalingapatnam by 11th October morning, which may cause wind speed of 100 to 110 kms per hour.

For relief and rescue operation, government has deployed ODRAF and NDRF teams in different parts of the state. Till date, government has already deployed six NDRF teams in districts of Gajapati, Puri, Kendrapada, Nayagarh, Bhadrak and Jajpur. Also seven ODRAF teams have been deployed in Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Kalahandi districts.

Commissioner R.Balkrishnan, Police DG Dr.Rajendra Prasad Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy, Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi and other officials participated in the meeting.
