Bhubaneswar: July 29: Odisha Government has decided to introduce its own version of Food Security Act from October 2, the day of Gandhi Jayanti. While announcing the decision, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, ‘In 2014, I have promised to start our own food security system. Till date, many of the poor people of the State are yet to be covered under the National Food Security Act’ since the centre is implementing the scheme as per the 2011 census. Despite repetitive approaches to add the 34.44 lakh left out beneficiaries, the Centre is yet to take a call on this.’

Chief Minister Patnaik further said, 34.44 lakh people excluded from the NFSA will be benefited by the scheme.
