Odisha Governor asks to maintain peaceful atmosphere in college campuses

Bhubaneswar: January 16: Addressing a Conference of Vice-Chancellors at Odisha Raj Bhavan, Odisha Governor and Chancellor S C Jamir expressed concern over widespread unrest especially during college elections. Sri Jamir further stated that the interference by political parties should stop to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in campuses across the State. While addressing the vice chancellors, Chancellor asked to focus on overall development of students and further stressed that, need of the hour is to nurture inter-disciplinary education, engage in cutting edge research and foster creativity and innovation. Terming Universities as the repositories of wisdom of enlightened and inspired minds, Jamir urged upon making higher education a foundation to a developed, prosperous and enlightened human society.

The Governor also asked the universities to make best efforts to adhere to faculty-student ratio and stay focused on faculty development through training and orientation for augmenting capabilities.

Higher Education Minister Anant Das on the other hand informed that Odisha Government is contemplating to come up with a model or uniform syllabus for all Universities across the state.
