Odisha Governor felicitates Odisha NCC cadets for successful participation in the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi this year

Bhubaneswar, Feb 3: Odisha Governor, Dr SC Jamir yesterday felicitated the Odisha NCC cadets in a special function at Raj Bhawan here for their successful participation in the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi this year. He said that the National Cadet Corps (NCC) has got enormous potential for nation building as it provides opportunities to the youth of the country for their all round development with a sense of duty, commitment, dedication, discipline and moral values to become able leaders and useful citizens. Congratulating the NCC Cadets, NCC Directorate and NSS Volunteers for their achievements in the recent years Jamir urged them to be examples for friends and motivate them to join NCC or NSS for a rewarding experience in life.

A total of 108 cadets were selected after rigorous trainingschedule  and excelled in various competitions held among cadets of all states. Their hard work and outstanding talent paid off as Odisha bagged theoverall third position among all the states. SUO Rajalaxmi Baral was awarded Raksha Mantri Commendation Card while Captain Kalpana Das bagged the Defence Secretary’s Commendation Card. Besides, 25 cadets participated in prestigious Raj Path Parade at New Delhi while eight cadets were selected for Guard of Honour to host VIPs and visiting dignitaries.

Lady Governor Alemla Jamir, Principal Secretary to Governor CJ Venugopal, OSD, Higher Education Vinod Kumar and Deputy Director General NCC, LK Agrawala were present in the function. The students presented cultural programme on the occasion.
