Odisha Govt approves to renovate Kanjia Lake

Bhubaneswar, Feb 3: Yesterday on the occassion of World Wetlands Day, Sisir Kumar Acharya, Director, Nandankanan Zoological Park said that the Odisha government has approved the action plen to renovate the Kanjia Lake that is adjacent to Nandankanan Zoological Park on the outskirts of the Odisha capital. He also stated that for the renovation, the government has sanctioned Rs 44 lakh to the Chilika Development Authority (CDA). On asking about the condition of the lake, Acharya stated that the lake would be dredged as its water level has become considerably low due to high sedimentation and dense weeds.

Earlier in the day, a rally was organised inside the Park premises where several school students participated to mark the World Wetlands Day. Several competitions were held among the students and awards were presented to the winners in the presence of senior Zoo officials.
