Odisha govt to evaluate the best practices adopted by district collectors

Bhubaneswar: June 17: At the outset of Collectors’ conference today at state secretariat, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has formed a committee to judge the best practices adopted by district collectors. Members of the committee are Excise Minister Damodar Rout, Women and Child Development Minister Usha Devi, School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra, Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan, Energy Secretary Suresh Mohapatra and Health Secretary Aarti Ahuja. Based on the report by the committee, the top three best practices will be rewarded at the valedictory session of the conference. Inaugurating the conference, Naveen expressed his eagerness to listen to collectors regarding the best practices adopted by them in their districts. Also, he advised the concerned departments to take note of it for using at other places. Addressing the session Naveen said, ‘We all have to take care on qualitative aspects like, to reduce harassment to the beneficiaries, to encourage people’s participation in the development process, to address the public grievances properly and others. We have to constantly find out ways and means to improve our performance in every sector, both quantitatively and qualitatively’.

Seven of the collectors have given presentations on different subjects assigned to them earlier. Implementation of various welfare schemes of different departments were reviewed in the conference today. There will be a review on the law and order situation of the state tomorrow. The SPs of all the districts will be part of it along with the collectors.
