Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has formed a task force to form ‘South Odisha Development Council’ to play an important role to include all sections of the society in the development process along with the development of southern Odisha.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi told the State Assembly on Monday that this task force has been formed to give informed opinion on how this development council will be formed, which districts and blocks will be included in it and what will be its structure and working methods.
The task force formed under the chairmanship of Minister of Social Security and Empowerment of Disabled, Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Tribes and Education and Public Education Nityananda Gond will submit its report within 30 days of its formation, he added.
Minister Commerce & Transport and Steel & Mines Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Minister of State for Fisheries and Livestock and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Independent) Gokulanand Mallick, MP Nabarangpur Balabhadra Majhi, MP Kandhamal Sukant Kumar Panigrahi, MLA Malkangiri Narsingh Madkami, MLA Parlakhemundi Rupesh Kumar Panigrahi, MLA Phulbani Uma Charan Mallik, MLA Pattangi Ramachandra Kadam and MLA Digapahandi Siddhant Mohapatra will be the members in the body.
There are also 3 ex-officio members– RDC (Southern Division), RDC (Central Division) and Chief Executive Officer Western Odisha Development Council.
The Special Secretary of Planning and Coordination Department is its Member Convener, he informed the House.
