
Bhubaneswar, Nov 19: Aditya Prasad Padhi, chief secretary, Odisha government on Friday offered helicopter and additional security to RBI, Bhubaneswar for transporting cash to remote parts of the state. He added that the helicopter is ready and the govt would also provide fuel support for the RBI to utilize in transporting cash.
A major impact of the demonetization movement is seen in the interior parts of the states. As about 4400 gram panchayats don’t have banks, the state govt has offered panchayats to use as banks for exchange of old notes.
S P Mohanty, GM, RBI, said that the situation is better in Odisha than many other states. SBI authorities who attended the meeting, also stated that the rush in banks and ATMs have reduced and banks have started functioning normally.
