Bhubaneswar, Oct 16: Odisha government has said that a comprehensive policy for holistic development of inland, brackish water and marine fishery will be in place soon with a view to developing the status of fishermen in State.
It claimed that welfare and security of fishermen is of primary concern to the government.
Attending a workshop, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said that Odisha is the first State in the country to adopt a comprehensive fishery policy for holistic development of inland, brackish water and marine fishery.
“Our aim is to be a pioneer in aquaculture development and fisheries extension for ensuring food security, livelihood, welfare of fishers and employment generation”, he added.
