Malkangiri: August 05: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the next of the kin of the deceased Bandana Sarkar. Kalimela Tehsildar has handed over the cheque to the family members of the deceased at her village MV-29.

On August 02, deceased minor girl Bandana Sarkar was found lying in a pool of blood in the computer room of the school with her wrist slit. Later she was rushed to Malkangiri hospital where doctors declared her brought-dead. An autopsy report has clarified that she died of excessive bleeding.

Further District Police revealed a sexual assault angle in Bandana’s death, who was studying in Class X at Sevashram residential school in Malkangiri District. On Saturday, Police arrested Biswajit Sarkar, the headmaster of Sikhapali Residential School based on the writing on a notebook of the deceased minor girl Bandana Sarkar in which she had mentioned about the sexual abuse by her headmaster. Also four other staffs of the school were placed under suspension by the district collector.

Another girl of the same school had also brought allegations of sexual harassment against the headmaster.
