Odisha Govt removes Sum Hospital from the Referral Hospitals List

Bhubaneswar, Oct 21: Taking strong action against the Sum Hospital authorities for breaking fire safety standards and operating without prior certifications, the health care unit has been de-empanelled from the recommended hospitals list by the State Government. A notice has been issued regarding this by the Director of Medical and Training (DMET) today afternoon.

As per the information, the hospital’s name has also been stroked out from the list of Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) Scheme. This scheme is a Central-government run insurance scheme for the family members who come below the poverty line.

The Notification also says that under the Odisha State Treatment Fund (OSTF) the patients of BPL families, patients with annual income of Rs 40,000 in rural areas and Rs 60,000 in urban areas can avail specialized treatment of diseases of lung, kidney and heart. It will also incur upto Rs 3 lakh cost spent for treatment and medicine. People signed under this scheme can avail medical assistance in all government hospitals as well as private hospitals empanelled as referral hospitals.
