Cuttack: June 8: An agreement between The Government of Odisha and Stock Holding Corporation of India Ltd (SHCIL) has been sighed on Tuesday to introduce e-stamping facility in Odisha. Upendranath Malick , State Inspector General of Registration ( IGR) signed the agreement with SHCIL in the presence of SHCIL Regional Manager Kaushik Bhattacharya. E-stamping, a computer based application and is a secured way of stamping documents. Without purchasing any stamp paper one can pay stamp duty to the government in an electronic way, official sources said.
Officials said, even with the introduction of e-stamping, the practice of using physical stamp paper and franking of stamp duty shall continue. ‘The e-stamp shall be used for stamp duties exceeding thousand rupees and it is an optional mode of payment of government revenue, said an official release. It is to be noted that till now around 17 states across the country has adopted the e stamping facility.
