Odisha govt to extend “Aahar” in other districts

Bhubaneswar, Nov 1: Cheap meal scheme “Aahar” will be extended to other districts of Odisha after its successful implementation at cities for urban poor.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during a meeting on Saturday decided to expand the scheme in all 30 district headquarters and industrial areas in phases.

As per the decision, “Aahar’ societies will be set up at state-level headed by Chief Secretary and district-level that will be led by the concerned District Collectors.

The scheme will be expanded at all districts with the help of funding agencies and firms, said Urban Development Minister Pushpendra Singhdeo.

Other facilities like water, CCTV camera for surveillance and facilities for handicapped will be available at the existing ‘Aahar’ outlets.
