Bhubaneswar: May 06: Odisha Cabinet approved six proposals on Friday. One of the major proposals approved by State Cabinet was to amend ‘The Odisha Grama Panchayat Act’, which will facilitate the creation of 500 new panchayats in the state. It is to be noted here, BJD 2014 poll manifesto promised to create a panchayat for every 1000 population.
The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the state secretariat approved a proposal for establishment of a health university in the state besides giving nods to the proposals like, grant of Rs 15 crore cash credit to Aska Cooperative Sugar Factory; amend the Bihar and Odisha places of Pilgrimage Act; give appointments to meritorious sports person in government jobs etc.
