Shree Jagannath Temple to reopen from 16th August for devotees

Cuttack: April 10:  Orissa High Court today rejected the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration’s plea to keep the Jagamohan (hall facing the Sanctum Sanctorum of Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri) closed till August 1 and directed to open  by April 16. A bench headed by Chief Justice Vineet Saran ordered the SJTA and district administration regarding the opening of Jagamohan.  It is to be noted that, Jagamohana was closed since January 2016 as ASI took up its repair work. Court also directed the SJTA & Puri district administration to inform the action taken on the matter on its next hearing i.e. on April 19.

In its previous hearing held on April 5, Odisha High Court had also censured SJTA for failing to announce the exact date of opening of Jagamohan.

It is to be noted that, the High Court has been monitoring the repair work of Shree Jagannath Temple in response to a PIL seeking judicial intervention for repair work of Shree Mandir.
